Kendrick Lamar’s masterful sophomore album To Pimp A Butterfly is just 45 days old. As listeners continue to unpack the jewels in his heavy commentary, Revolt TV tells the story of the project’s sound in a documentary titled Out the Cocoon.

In-house producers Sounwave and Tae Beast sit alongside TDE’s resident engineer Mixed By Ali to discuss crafting the sound of what many consider the Album of the Year. Jazz musician and producer Terrace Martin also sounds off on his contributions to the project, recalling conversations about the music that predate good kid, m.A.A.d city‘s release.

The frequent TDE collaborators also give insight on Kendrick’s life-changing trip to South Africa, which, of course, changed the fabric of TPAB.
