In a tragic turn of events, a woman in Houston died while trying to stop her suicidal boyfriend from ending his life. The incident happened on the 4th of July holiday.
According to authorities, the boyfriend had been drinking before he laid down in the middle of the road to get hit by an oncoming vehicle. “At approximately 12:35 a.m., on Saturday, July 4, Michael Thomas was in a moving lane of traffic attempting suicide, by trying to get hit by a motor vehicle,” said the Harris Country Sheriff’s Office in a statement.
As the woman, whose name has not been released, attempted to physically drag him away, she was hit by a Buick Lasabre and killed on impact. The road was apparently very dark and the woman was then run-over by another car, a Chevy Monte Carlo. However, neither of the drivers were intoxicated at the time, and won’t face charges.
The boyfriend was taken into custody to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
