There has never been a more cooler time to be James Bond or associated with the 007 moniker.

Daniel Craig’s Spectre is being hailed as the spectacular type of action one can expect from the ageless double agent and since we’re living in the digital age, it’s a beneficial time for product placement and integrated marketing.

Hip-Hop Wired had the fortuitous opportunity to be among a select few guests invited to an exclusive Shaken Not Stirred Martini Mixer at Nic’s Beverly Hills, hosted by Larry Nicola, chef owner and world-famous vodkateur. Martinis have long been 007’s drink of choice and moviegoers who take in Spectre this weekend will notice he will be blending his concoction with premium vodka.

The James Bond franchise has a storied history marks “this is the largest global campaign Belvedere has done” and impedes on the golden era of Bond characters of using Smirnoff as its martini accessory but the new generation is seeing more experimentation with other spirits as well.

During the course of the mixer, we learned how to whip up a special signature Bond cocktails inside of Nicola’s custom-built Vodbox, a room designed to keep top shelf vodkas at their peak freshness. The acclaimed restaurateur tells us that the “extraordinary idea” came after he was forced to devise a scheme to keep customers engaged amid a ridiculous amount of construction in the Beverly Hills area.

“The Vodbox gives you the same preservation for vodka like you do food,” Nicola says. “A smooth vodka wouldn’t have any bitter taste but still contains a distinct flavor. That’s how you know it’s being preserved right.

Spectre, the twenty-fourth James Bond film, is currently in theaters now. Check out photos of the mixer down below.
