Here’s The Notorious B.I.G. like you’ve never heard him before. To celebrate the 19th anniversary of the late, great MC’s tragic passing, MICK (formerly Mick Boogie) and present a mash-up project titled Ready to Boom.
Like any proper Biggie mash-up release, the Brooklyn native’s intricate lyrics – an amalgam of the rhythmic fixings of his Jamaican-American upbringing, living in Brooklyn during Hip-Hop’s first golden era, and his natural storytelling ability – are the star of the show. The difference here lies in the production, which in this case are the familiar sounds of prodigious producer Metro Boomin.
Yes, you read right. B.I.G. waxing poetics over the oft-eerie trap sound of Young Metro. Stream Ready To Boom in Wired Tracks below. There, two phenomenal remixes by producer Kaytranada, a heater from Robert Glasper, featuring Miles Davis and Bilal, and more can also be heard.
