Carmelo Anthony is a man of his word. Melo brought along Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James to opened up last night’s ESPYs with powerful statements admonishing gun violence, reiterating that Black Lives do Matter and calling on their peers to not sit on the sidelines.

The superstar NBA players used their platform to call for fellow athletes to educate themselves to the issues plaguing the nation, and to do something about it.

“The system is broken, the problems are not new, the violence is not new, and the racial divide definitely is not new,” said Melo. “But, the urgency to create change is at an all time high.”

Added Chris Paul, “We stand here tonight in accepting our roles in uniting communities to be the change we need to see.”

Watch their call to action below.
