Just as the American public began to settle into a hopeful pattern of normalcy after the Dallas, Texas ambush police shooting, three Baton Rouge police officers are dead in a similarly styled attack. According to reports that are rapidly developing, one suspect is dead while a manhunt is on for a possible two other suspects.

WAFB reports:

Law enforcement officials are asking the entire community to remain indoors and to avoid the area where a deadly shooting has resulted in the death of three law enforcement officers and one suspect. They say two additional suspects are at large and ask the public to report any suspicious activity.

Officials say there have been reports of gunfire in several areas around the city, including Cortana Mall, but so far those reports have all been unfounded. Law enforcement agencies throughout Baton Rouge are on high alert, including the LSU Police Department.

“LSU PD has put more officers on patrol and has increased the frequency of its patrols on campus, and is supporting the city and sheriff’s law enforcement agencies. LSU has also asked students to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to LSU Police.”

As in the Dallas shooting, this latest incident has positioned the Black Lives Matter movement against opponents who inaccurately believe that the activist group promotes an anti-police sentiment.
