The Abstract Poetic has a new side gig perfectly in sync with his skill set. On Thursday, Sept. 8, Q-Tip and First Lady Michelle Obama will honor the fifth annual class of the National Student Poets Program.

Five student poets will be special guests at the White House, where they will read their work and participate in a celebration.

Earlier this year, Q-Tip was appointed as the first Artistic Director for Hip Hop Culture at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. It’s in this capacity that the founder of A Tribe Called Quest will be welcoming the students.

Every year, the National Student Poets Program, made up of 10th and 11th graders, selects five top students from different regions and bigs up their talents at written and spoken language. The 2016 honorees are Stella Binion from Chicago, Maya Eashwaran from Alpharetta, GA, Gopal Raman from Dallas, Joey Reisberg from Towson, MD and Maya Salameh from San Diego.

Also worth noting, Q-Tip is now signed to Epic Records. When can we expect that album, though?
