Donald Glover is a new dad and his FX show Atlanta is simply brilliant. The wins continue to pile up for the actor, comedian and rapper as he’s been cast as Lando Calrissian in the forthcoming Han Solo Star Wars movie.
Lucasfilm made the announcement today (Oct. 21) and blasted it across the proper Star Wars Twitter handle.
Per StarWars.com, the new, still untitled movie will follow Lando “in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld — years before the events involving Han, Leia, and Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back and his rise to Rebel hero in Return of the Jedi.”
Lando was portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in the aforementioned films. Glover will be teaming with actor Alden Ehrenreich who has been cast in the titular role made famous by Harrison Ford.
The new Han Solo movie drops sometime in 2018. Score one for Black Excellence.
