Vic Mensa makes a brief visit back into our conscious with a four song EP.

Almost a year to the day he released his last project There’s Alot Going On, Vic Mensa is back with a new set of songs intended to hold his fans over until his long-awaited debut album drops.

The first track “Almost There,” reminds listeners of the Vic that Jay Z and Kanye West reportedly had a bidding war over just a couple of years ago. But at the same time, he tells his fans not to hold their breaths for the “old Vic” to come back because he is a completely different person now. He also assures fans that his album is actually finished and to be patient.

The Pharrell-produced second track “OMG” features Vic showing that despite the many directions of his music, he can still be bars with the likes of Pusha T. The last two tracks “Rollin’ Like A Stoner” and “Rage,” have Vic stretching his musical boundaries experimenting with EDM and rock sounds while giving us some of the most vulnerable lyrics he’s delivered thus far. Especially on “Rage” where he raps about being able to afford a Rolex but not wanting to face time.

If you’re already a Vic Mensa fan, this should tide you over briefly. If you weren’t already a Vic fan, this project may not convince you. Listen for yourself below.
