It’s a secret society and all Apple asks is trust. An engineer found that out the hard way after his daughter’s harmless video of her spending some time with him at Apple’s Cupertino Campus went viral.
Apple plays no games when it comes to protecting their trade secrets and information on their new products. So it should come as no surprise at their course of action when it came to YouTuber Brooke Amelia Peterson’s father.
In the video, Brooke can be seen showing off features of the pre-released version of the highly anticipated iPhone X. The incident took place at Caffè Macs, at Apple’s new state of the art cafeteria on their campus in Cupertino, California last week.
As reported by The Verge, Apple reportedly fired Brooke’s dad after she showed off the design of the phone, cover sheet notification screen, and the Animoji feature. She also broke one of Apple’s rule, “general prohibition of recording video on campus” which was put in place to keep secrets from leaking out.
Here’s what Brooke had to say about the situation in a new video she shared :
On Tuesday, I woke up and my iPhone X video was going viral, I was on the trending page … My dad was a privileged engineer who worked on the iPhone X and he had one. After Apple released their keynote, after plenty of Youtubers posted YouTube videos, hands-on iPhone X videos, I made a YouTube video about the iPhone X.
I have no idea how my video got so much attention considering how many other iPhone X videos there are out there from other YouTubers, At the end of the day, when you work for Apple, it doesn’t matter how good of a person you are, if you break a rule they just have no tolerance.
