On Thursday (Oct 1) in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Anada Lewis kicked off the month with the diagnosis announcement on Instagram urging other women of color to get tested as advised by medical professionals to ensure early detection.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and has been celebrated by a variety of celebrities and institutions in small ways. Today, the top trending topic in the U.S. on Twitter is #NoBraDay in support of raising awareness of the deadly disease which is something we here at Hip-Hop Wired totally applaud.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge grossed more than $100 million last year and gave social media users some serious celebrity entertainment. So it was only inevitable that similar challenges spring up to serve a good cause.
