Marvel Studios has tapped Nia DaCosta to film "Captian Marvel 2," making her first black woman direct a Marvel film, ever! After wrapping her second film with Jordan Peele for "Candyman," and garnering praise for the directorial debut of her 2017 film "Little Woods," the budding filmmaker is quickly appearing Hollywood's radar.

Recently DaCoasta gave fans a sneak peak of the film which featured a paper puppet show that not only gave the backstory to the legend of the Candyman, but at the same time reenacted the 1998 racially motivated murder of James Byrd, Jr. as well as the 1944 execution of 14-year-old George Stinney, Jr. Forever to be known as the youngest person to get the electric chair.

Jordan Peele has dropped the first proper trailer for his Candyman reboot, and it’s already looking stellar. In addition, it features a creepy use of a Destiny’s Child’s refrain that pretty much signed and sealed its Black Twitter approval.
