A Michigan judge put a racist cop in his place at his sentencing for beating an unarmed Black man last January. On Tuesday (Feb. 3) William Melendez was sentenced to 13 months to 10 years in prison, plus 85 days credit for time served, stemming from the heinous attack of 58-year-old Floyd Dent.

Officer Robert Rialmo, the Chicago cop who shot and killed a 19-year-old victim alongside a mother of five the day after Christmas, is suing the teen’s estate. A lawyer for Rialmo confirmed that he will file a civil lawsuit against the family of Quintonio LeGrier within the next couple of weeks.

Michael Slager, the former Norther Charleston, S.C. cop charged with murdering Walter Scott, will be remanded to house arrest pending the start of his trial later this year. Slager was approved for $500,000 bail Monday (Jan. 4) after previously being denied release.

The 34-year-old NYPD officer who fatally shot Ramarley Graham has received close to $25,000 in automatic pay raises in the three plus years since he killed the unarmed teen inside his Bronx apartment. Officer Richard Haste made over $88,000 for the fiscal year, up more than $20,000 from the year Graham was gunned down.

Nearly seventeen years after an unarmed Amadou Diallo was killed by NYPD officers, one of the four cops involved in his death has copped a promotion. Kenneth Boss, the last of the four still employed with the NYPD, was promoted to sergeant Thursday (Dec. 17), a move that’s drawing criticism from Diallo’s mother.
