Veteran rappers LL Cool J and Ice T are the hosts of a new documentary series that sees the two lead a search for the most prized memorabilia in Hip-Hop culture. "Hip Hop Treasures" will also feature appearances by DMC, Yo-Yo, Fat Joe, Master P and more.

As Hip-Hop is celebrating turning 50, the Universal Hip-Hop Museum is prominently involved in all of the tributes and events commemorating the culture. We had a chance to speak with the executive director of the museum, Rocky Bucano about the institution's plans for later this year and to get his own insight on being involved at such a historic time for Hip-Hop.


As Hip-Hop celebrates fifty years of existence, the culture is getting a much-deserved round of appreciation thanks to a selection of museums and special exhibitions showcasing all of its brilliance. These exhibits focus on artists who've changed society on a whole through their work covering Hip-Hop as well as other elements such as fashion, and cover all of the history and artifacts of the past fifty years.


The VSOP Mixtape Vol 3. Limited Edition from Remy Martin will be a salute to the DJ, and there will also be a series of murals in tribute to eight iconic turntable masters including DJ Red Alert, DJ Spinderella and DJ Yella among them. Individuals can scan QR codes within the murals to gain access to exclusive music events which are co-sponsored by iHeart Media and the Universal Hip-Hop Museum.


The Universal Hip Hop Museum will be able to advance their mission in the coming years. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has secured 3 million dollars in funding for the institution.

Eric Adams and the City of New York will support the Universal Hip-Hop Museum in raising $50 million leading up to the opening of the Bronx museum.


As the long-awaited Universal Hip Hop Museum remains under construction, a new influx of funding will bring the opening date closer to fruition.
