Obama as 'Joker' Poster Borders Malice, Phantom Artist Mum

POLITICS

A poster of Obama in make-up resembling the Joker, a character from the film "The Dark Knight," went viral immediately in the streets of Los Angeles, under the image is the word "socialism." The "artist" remains silent.

As if the picture isn't discourteous enough, the implication of Obama single-handedly reforming government and society into socialism completely undermines the mission and agenda of his presidency.

The phantom artist created the poster from the October 2006 issue of Time Magazine featuring Obama on the cover and added the "Joker" face to the shot, according to the Associated Press.

According to various reports, the poster has been circulated and spotted throughout different parts of L.A. and Hollywood since Monday (August 3), particularly on highway ramps and underpasses. There have been reports of poster sightings in Atlanta as well.

Earl Ofari Hutchinson, L.A. activist and columnist has beckoned the creator(s) to come forward, announce themselves and explain the motivation behind the poster.

"Depicting the president as demonic and a socialist goes beyond political spoofery," says Hutchinson, "it is mean-spirited and dangerous.
"We have issued a public challenge to the person or group that put up the poster to come forth and publicly tell why they have used this offensive depiction to ridicule President Obama."

On behalf of the staff here at HipHopWired.com, we join Hutchinson and encourage the mastermind behind the poster to make themselves known, exercise their freedom of speech and explain his/her intention. Such a statement deserves expounding. Otherwise, remaining mute could be rendered just as cowardly as white sheets and burning crosses. Just saying.

Racist?!? Phooey!

I think the poster is fantastic!!!

After all the mudslinging that Bush-- who I am NO fan of-- endured, Obama, like any politician, is fair game.

I love the poster for a few reasons. I find it to be a very creative adaptation of a common photo. The imagery is very dark and sinister and perhaps exposes the darker side of this man so blindly loved and adored by millions. It raises concern for what little we know about his darker side-- who is he REALLY? What REALLY motivates him? IS he socialist? IS he the greatest con to have attained the presidency? What destruction to our great country will he leave in his wake? Is he the ANTICHRIST?!?

What disturbs me as an artist about this poster is the pressure of abridged freedom of expression that the artist must feel that would have compelled her or him to post these in the dark of night. I am terribly afraid that our freedom of expression as artists is being quietly but firmly subdued. This, I believe, is evidence of that smothering of those freedoms that a person, whether an artist or a person simply expressing political opinions/dissent, should be fearful of voicing their opinions.

I say, "Way to go Obama Joker Poster-poster!"

This from Greg Gutfeld:

Posters of President Obama made up as Heath Ledger's Joker with "socialism" written below have been showing up around Los Angeles and it's being greeted with outrage from the typically outraged.

Some are calling it racist, others are calling it "dangerous"; I'm calling it: "Steve" — which is Greg for "boring."

The Web site Newsbusters points out that — after all — that former President Bush had been portrayed as everything from Dracula to the Joker to worse: a Texan! And, while media hacks point out that criticizing Obama is unfair because he's only been on the job for six months, that's bat poop.

Hatred for Bush began the moment he took office and Sarah Palin was only around for a few weeks before lefties were wearing T-shirts with her face and a vulgar word beneath it (hint: It rhymes with bunt.)

And besides, this Obama Joker face only elevates his hip persona and it's honest. Seriously, we live in a culture where anti-heroes have replaced heroes — hence Ledger's joker is far cooler than Bale's Batman. (At least the Joker didn't yell at his mom at the premiere.)

The Joker scoffed at tradition, reveled in post-modern humor and, more importantly, was played by a dead guy. You can't get any cooler than that, even if, like me, you do Pilates wearing only body paint.

Finally, as so many Obama-lovers point out, our president is more than a president, he's a pop culture icon — and you can't go more than five feet without seeing a shirt, a button or a jock strap with his face plastered on it

At least with these new posters, the media has a message.

the reason why people hated bush is because

A) He cheated and stole his first election
B) He was a dumb *****. . .
C) He ruined the nation after a decade of prosperity!!!

Obama is that dude! Nough' said. . . The posters are wack. . .take them down

I'm discovering over and over that most people who believe Barack Obama (or any other president since JFK, for that matter!) is working for the benefit of the American people simply do not have enough information to make a better judgement call on the issue. If you haven't seen "The Obama Deception", "Fabled Enemies" or anything from "David Icke" concerning the NWO, then I would expect you to praise Barack (who happens to be a member of the Bilderberg group, the Council on Foreign Relations, AND the Trilateral Commission) who just appointed half the banking industry to his cabinet and THEN turned around and gave BILLIONS of our hard earned tax dollars to the banks who we aren't allowed to audit or oversee!! (also, you might be *****ed if you followed the money trail to find out who REALLY owns the money in those banks!) Congressman Ron Paul has been trying to p***** legislation that would force the auditing of the Federal Reserve (which is NOT A PART OF THE US GOVERNMENT...BTW), but it seems to get struck down every time. Why are foreign interests allowed to control the institution that controls our economy? Worse yet...why are we not allowed to hold them accountable when there is so much empirical evidence of moral, ethical and legal laws being thwarted at our expense? Why did our "Joker" of a presidential puppet not save the American people from that financial loss? Oh yeah.....he doesn't get to make many decisions, now does he? Ask yourself if you've ever heard this "genious" president speak without his precious teleprompter. Well, if you google search him talking without it, you'll see he's not so bright without the Hollywood speechwriters. Guy sounded like a *****in' idiot and the only thing he's proven is that he can read a little better then GW.

I try not to judge people, however if I do, I judge people based on their actions, not their words or writing. If you base your opinion of Obama on what his speechwriters have prepared for him to say, then you will undoubtedly love the guy who's had more charisma than almost any president we can remember. However, if you're not of the m*****es of sheeple who receive the totality of their information from CNN, Fox and other corporate run media, and you've done any research (i.e.; WORK) into the ACTIONS of our president and the executive orders he and most prior commanders-in-chief have been been signing and using to cir*****vent Congress, you probably see the bigger picture and how it has nothing to do with the American people receiving better education, healthcare, employment, freedom or just plain quality of life. They have everything to do with a globalist agenda to keep the money where it's always been and that's not in the hands of the average human being on this planet. We're not deemed to be worthy as cattle in the eyes of the people who pulls Obama's strings, so why should he care about you?

The poster is "art" made under the authority of the speech freedoms given in the US Constitution, so I believe they should exist and be seen by many. You don't have to like it.....it's ART! Trouble is....whenever most people see art they don't approve of, it ceases to be art and becomes something that "shouldn't be allowed" or "is too controversial for the public".

Well, if history has taught us anything I hope it's taught us that if we want freedom, we have to be willing to give the same freedom to everyone else. EVERYONE ELSE!!!! Even someone who bashes our beloved president.

Okay....I'm done now. Shields up......come on with it, but please come intelligent, as I have no *****e in my reality for those not so well-read! If you don't know what you're talking about or don't have enough info, please notice the futility in primitive retorts.
