Thursday, December 31st, 2009

“I hear Drake, Drake sings and he raps and it's a mixture of it and I think it works.  It's evolved Hip Hop”

In a new era of Hip Hop, rappers have come to learn how to be a jack of all trades.  Outside of simply rapping, some have acquired other talents such as Eminem stepping behind the boards and becoming a producer.

Some have done away with the necessity of utilizing an R&B singer for their hooks and using their own given melody to provide chorus in a singing-like fashion.

No other artist but Fablous, whose career is epitomized by his presence (more...)

Trying to find a way to make himself relevant in Hip Hop again, Benzino has decided to jump into a “situation” with Royce Da 5'9”.

Starting from being sensitive about an interview to calling Slaughterhouse overrated, time is clearly of the essence to the “rapper”, but he must come to realize that the window of opportunity has long since passed by.

With the recent leak and visual for “Break to Build”, the rapper had some explaining to do as Raekwon was quick to detract any potential idea that he was pledging allegiance to the Boston native and his war against Slaughterhouse.

Is Auto Tune Officially Over Now?

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Now, when Jay-Z stated that the technology of Auto Tune was becoming a joke with Wendy's using it in their commercials, it was becoming evident that the T-Pain effect was being overdone by rappers.

The sh*t has officially hit the fan with this one though, as Flavor Flav, of Public Enemy, makes sure to get a crack with voice distortion for his music video to “I'll Never Let You Go”.

Taking a page from Kanye West, the track is a “heartfelt” ballad with Flav clearly being love struck over some girl, but c'mon now, let's be serious.  What the hell is going on?

PLEASE…for the sake of HUMANITY…bury Auto Tune or just leave it to skilled professionals.

“Big Brother-esque” Camera Aims To Give Cops Fair Chance

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Police brutality took a turn for the worst this in 2009, with cases seemingly coming out of the proverbial wood work at every turn.

Citizen vigilance was taken to another level, thanks largely to the rise of camera phones; still, more measures are needed to make sure that those assigned to protect and serve remain faire and balanced in their duty to the people.

Enter TASER International Incorporated, maker of the much loved and dually hated TASER stun gun, to once again offer what they feel is needed to have effective law enforcement.

The company created the AXON head camera, a mobile recording device meant to be worn around the head of an officer, allowing them to capture footage of every potential incident from their vantage point.

TASER Inc. feels that their newest offering will allow officers that are falsely accused of wrongdoing to have a fair chance to clear their name while helping to catch other officers in their wrongdoing. It is also the hope of AXON's creators that police department will require the camera unit be switched on before any action is taken.

All footage collected during the day is downloaded to an offsite server when officers charge their camera for the day.

So far, only San Jose PD is using the device, with 18 of its 1,300 officers trained and equipped with AXON camera units.

A three-year contract for the system for one officer that includes software and video storage costs $5,700.
