Bishop Eddie Long Addresses Congregation About Sex Charges

Bishop Eddie Long addressed his congregation today at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church for the first time since being accused by four men of sexual coercion.

Speaking to the congregation he said,


“This an extremely difficult time for me and and for my family. And an extremely difficult time for you….you ain't neva got this many phone calls in your life. It's a time when you actually see the veil dropped and see who's with you and who's not with you…."

"We cannot control painful situations but we can control our response to it
I've been accused, I am under attack. Like I said before, I'm not a perfect man. But this thing I'm gone fight. I feel like David against Goliath, and I got five rocks that I haven't thrown yet.”

Long continued to speak to the congregation for about 20 minutes. He did not specifically deny accusations, but he made it clear he would fight the allegations he took advantage, sexually, of young men who at the time were looking to the preacher for friendship and guidance. Long acknowledged the media and perhaps others who were tuning into the service, either live on TV or from the live stream from the church's website.

"Good morning to all our other guests," he said. "... I do want to remind. We're here today and every Sunday morning. And I'll be here next week."

He then turned on his heel and walked away from the pulpit, ending his 20-minute address.

@Confused. You caught that too! When I read that I felt it was a vague confession, he is admitting some unappropriate things occured between him and those young men. The sad thing is all of the young men accusing him of sodomy said they come from single parent homes and their mothers brought them to church and wanted them around positive male role models and thought that the Bishop was a perfect role model and father figure taking interest in their sons when no one else did that is what makes this sad he took advantage of these young men not having a protector which is a father.

"I've got five rock's I haven't thrown yet"...sound like you too busy smoking them Rev Eddie "stroke" Long. This is the second time within the past several years this has surfaced. I have no love for this man. If they were able to find Bill Clinton's *perm on Monica's "blue dress" then it should not be hard to trace Eddie's Soul-Glow activator stains either....
"follow the drip-follow the drip" (Robin Harris) ! He is going to hell in a hand basket and I hope that God is the final judge on this man if the allegations are true. The likely hood is that right now, he is in PR mode...which is DENY-DENY, while his attorney's are breaking off these young men some chump change and a legal do*****ent to prevent them from ever talking about this again..If he doesn't pay up enough, then you will start hearing them and their attorney's on CNN and the media circuits soon...SMDH!

Isn't it funny that most of the people that condemn pastors such as Bishop Long, don't even attend church or don't realize that the enemy is after everyone including the man of the cloth? Regardless of the matter we all make decisions along the way that we learn and grow from. I have never been an admirer of Bishop Long but damn, I'm pretty much sure its difficult to be in a position to help people and also be in a situation that alot of single women also gravitate to men that have strong leadership abilities. All of the evidence isn't even out and everyone is so ready to condemn. Have you checked your closet lately?

He is so damn guilty! He wouldn't deny doing what he did. All he said was he's not a perfect man meaning he did all the accusers said he did. All this and he will continue to be a self-hating hypocrite saying the gay lifestyle is wrong when he is cheating on his wife and living that lifestyle with really young boys.

I'm not surprised he addressed the issue without actually admitting or denying any wrongdoings...the truth will come out in the end! I just don't understand the congregation "applauding" his comments as if they had any substance---the only substance was his reference to David vs Goliath.

I ATTEND CHURCH..AND PASTOR IS NOT WHAT I WOULD CALL EDDIE LONG; YOU MAY CALL HIM THAT AND YOU MAY HAVE YOUR REASONS, ...BUT I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THEM!!!!!! THIS MAN, HIS CHURCH, HIS *****OCIATES ALL APPEARS TO BE INVOLVED IN SOMETHING STRICTLY OF THE DEVIL!!!!!!! we must remember that God is the only judge. Please stop judging this man because the word says "touch not my anointed". for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and you shall be judged by the same measure that you are judgeing bishop long. Thank God i'm not the judge because all of our sins are as filthy rags,so whoever amongst you is without sin,cast the first stone. nuff said.
