  OMG! I couldn't agree with you more! Yesterday morning I was in a crowded local New Orleans bakery when over the radio it was announced Fantasia was playing Mahalia, I and the bakery worker both shouted WHAT! A tragedy obviously someone hasn't done their homework.

  Fantasia will be GREAT for this role. She was AWESOME on Broadway. Only ones that did not do their homework are readers of gossip blogs

  Oh yeah, I grew up learning about Mahalia, and obviously if you did too you would understand. Broadway gas nothing to do with this. You can't compare a Broadway show to a biopic. Can't at all.

  Well if I was a Gospel Singer or you were, you should want a Gospel Singer not R&B that goes from the Church to the juke joint like shug avery. Just cause you can sing a genre of music don't make you a Gospel Singer to portray you. Especially if you were not a R&B singer and refuse to sing that secular music. When I think of Fantasia i think of secular music. I didn't say she wasn't talented etc, didn't say she couldn't act, just not this role.

  Now she could be perfect for a Aretha Franklin biopic. She went back and forth and her dad was a world known preacher.

  Fantasia could never be a Mahalia Jackson. They maybe should have chose Jennifer Hudson for that role. You have an ok voice Fantasia, but sorry, not Mahalia...

  Well I am herre to tell u that by what I have read. And come to understand abt mahalia jackson is that she was a loving person and not judgemental at all and carried God in her spirit everywhere she went. As for the gospel and R&B beef. Just think mahaila inspired one of the most famous soul singers in the world "Aretha Franklin". She would come to the franklin home and cook and sing. And I read in a book that Aretha said that mahalia told her "everytime you sing. You sing like its your last time. And that brought here a long way. You see all this seperation and comment abt this is right and wrong. Where is the God in that?. And yes fantasia made some bad choices but that doesn't make here a bad person. Fantasia would play the heck out of this role. If u disagree becuz of foolish reasons. Just stop for a second and check yourself. *****ody is perfect and everybody falls short somewhere. But we are blessed with a forgiving God.
