Mario Van Peebles Directs Rej3ctz “Cat Daddy 2.0” Video

Los Angeles-based rap group The Rej3ctz have enlisted Hollywood veteran Mario Van Peebles to direct a “2.0” version of their smash hit “Cat Daddy.”

The “Cat Daddy” is a song and dance craze, released by The Rejectz (Mowii, Bounc3, Pee-Wee) in 2010, that has quickly spread across the nation.

The song already boasts multiple Youtube videos of fans performing the “Cat Daddy” dance, and an original “Cat Daddy” official video featuring Chris Brown and directed by Alex Nazari, that has topped 20 million views on Youtube alone.

After years of directing and acting, Mario Van Peebles decided to take his first shot at a music video, and directed “Cat Daddy 2.0” for the L.A. trio.

Cat Daddy 2.0 “is not just a music video, it’s a mini movie” says Mario Van Peebles.

Based on the true story of how Van Peebles met The Rej3ctz  when they auditioned for his upcoming film “We The Party,” the “Cat Daddy 2.0” video also features appearances by P. Diddy’s son, actor and rapper Quincy Brown, Def Jam recording Artist YG and singer/actor Carlos Olivero. The music video also ends with a glimpse of Peebles’ “We The Party” movie trailer.

“We The Party” is slated for a summer release, and features The Rej3ctz, The New Boyz, YG and Snoop Dogg.

“Teenagers are listening to a lot of new music.  It’s not just about gangsta rap and hyper capitalism wish fulfillment anymore.” says Van Peebles.

“I think the Rej3ctz represent some of the shift to a brighter, more self deprecating and implicitly socially conscious stance. “Cat Daddy 2.0” tells the story of how we met on the film audition. These guys clearly had the self-confidence to not take themselves or the rap game too seriously.  It’s as if, on some level, they get the joke of life.”
