Police Kill Teen Over Bus Fare

Another police killing took place in the Bay Area over the weekend.

A 19-year-old man was shot and killed by police on Saturday.

Reports state the following:

The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. (Saturday, July 16) on Third Street and Oakdale Avenue when a 19-year-old man, who was believed to have been carrying a gun, was shot and collapsed on the sidewalk, police said.

A police spokesman said the shooting began after two uniformed officers conducted a fair inspection on a Muni light rail vehicle.

They detained the man on the platform, but he fled on foot.

During the foot pursuit, police said the suspect fired at the officers, and the officers fired back.

Witnesses had a different story and said police overreacted.

As the man was running he had his hands up in the air, and then hit the ground when he was shot, one witness said.

Police maintained that the man had a weapon and they searched the area for the firearm.

One bullet casing lay on the street, and police said it came from a gun that did not belong to the police officers.

Police said witnesses could have taken the victim's weapon when the man collapsed, or the suspect could have thrown the gun somewhere during the pursuit.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and he later died from those injuries at 7 p.m. The officers were not injured.

This police shooting comes as the Bay Area is still recovering from the 2009 police shooting of Oscar Grant, and the BART killing of an unarmed man in July.

It seems to be open season on police killings in the Bay.

    TO MY REAL PEOPLE: Don't let these ignorant comments incite the evil in you... Ofcourse there are evil whites, blacks, yellows etc. etc. You cannot judge a tree by one bad apple. People of the world must stand together or die alone because the tyrannical oppressive enemies that we face do not discriminate... This shooting in particular saddens me deeply. The common people are getting fed up with the tyranny of the state, just look at how many people surrounded and outnumbered the supposed peace officers.     I'd surely love to get my hands on the cop that shot this brotha..when you wrongly take the lives of our brothas you deserve to die yourself. I sure hope the San Francisco police department does the right thing and bring charges against its own force. If they refuse to bring justice, i pray that the citizens of San Francisco will.

      I want to see the security camera in the mall where he shot his gun? Then again that might be a lost piece of evidence. Where are the witnesses from the mall where the shooting took place? What happen to CPR or pressure on the gun shot wound? That's right if any of that took place he would be a live to tell his story. One thing I have notice about NOPD and SFPD they do not leave any suspect alive to tell their side of the story.

    This story reaffirms why we should have raised all hell when Negroes started claiming we don't need to hear any news on black radio stations. Then we lost the Sheridan/Mutual Black News Network, and then the National Black News Network. Though we are blessed to have hiphop wired, there was nothing like the immediacy of this story being told and heard by the national black community at 5 minutes before the top of the hour or 5 minutes after. This kind of in the closet BS has continued to be the result. Thank God I can read and have a computer linked to the internet.
