While in L.A., rapper Lil Mama chopped it up with HipHopWired on a number of topics including her absence in music fueled by the unexpected death of her mother, her role as a judge on America’s Best Dance Crew and her relationship with Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Unbeknownst to many, the femcee is very close to the Smith clan and credits them for being her mentors.

“Jada Pinkett-Smith is a true mentor in my life. She gives me encouragement, she pushes me[…]Her and Will, I can honestly say that they’ve been very encouraging and they’ve been like family to me.”

She also added that if she could remake Angie Martinez, Left Eye, Missy and Kim’s  hit “Ladies Night”, she’d be sure to include all the iconic female emcees of our generation.

“[MC] Lyte, Kim, Nicki Minaj, Foxy Brown, Lauryn Hill–she’d probably have to kick it off.”
