De La Soul Member Dropping ‘First Serve' Side Project [Video]
Even if it's only part of the crew, a new De La Soul project is always worth checking. Posdnous and Dave of De La Soul are now Jacob "Pop Life" Barrow and Deen “D” Whittier, respectively, under the moniker of 'First Serve.'
The duo will release an album on April 2, but as a teaser have just dropped a mixtape called The Goon Time Mixtape, which features Plug 1 and Plug 2 Pop Life and D flowing over re-worked instrumentals from a diverse mix of artists including Nas, Jay-Z, Jurassic 5, The Beatles and B.B. King. You can listen to the entire project at First Serve's Soundcloud page. Below you can hear "Pushin' Aside, Pushin' Along" and watch vid that introduces this quasi-new dyamic duo.
