Arguably the hottest artist in the game right now, 2 Chainz tore down S.O.B.’s in New York City last night (Jan. 30th). Performing to a packed house, 2 Chainz entered the stage, at the introduction of Power 105’s Breakfast Club, and proceeded to ignite the crowd from his presence alone.

At one point to begin his show, he merely mimicked himself on stage, not spitting one verse on the microphone, and just allowed the track to play. However, the crowd reacted to every word and movement, as if the rapper had just given you the hottest 16 bars of his life, it was actually amazing to see.

Once he started, you could tell he had genuine fans in the crowd. Every verse, complete with ad-libs, was guided by the jam-packed crowd. While the crowd remained “turnt-up” the entire show, the biggest records during his set were definitely when he performed “Riot,” “Spend It,” “Supa-Freak” and “Duffle Bag Boyz.”

The first two of the aforementioned records are off his latest mixtape, TRU REALigion, while the strip club anthem “Supa-Freak” can be found on Jeezy’s latest release, TM103. 2 Chainz’ performance of “Duffle Bag Boyz,” was the sign that his fans have been riding with him throughout his journey, as the record was followed as if it’d just been released.

To close out the show, 2 Chainz stated, “Because I’m a cool n*gga, if you wanna take some pictures, now would be a good time to do it,” as he proceeded to do his best James Brown impression, and have a fur placed on his shoulders while a slow song played in the background, pure comedy! After the impromptu photoshoot, he thanked the fans, and most importantly he gave a shout out to Def Jam, who had their Chairman & CEO Barry Weiss in attendance.

Rumor has it, the ATL rapper will be taking his talents to Island Def Jam. Recently, The Source reported that 2 Chainz was on the verge of a deal with the label, but was unable to gain a confirmation. Hip-Hop Wired reached out to his reps and was unable to obtain comment. The former DTP soldier took to Skype to inform Sway Calloway during  ‘MTV RapFix’ that the wait may soon end.

“I think I’m gonna come sit on the sofa Wednesday (February 1st). Me and you got a lot of things we got to talk about face-to-face,” 2 Chainz told Sway. “It should be a good day Wednesday. I’m coming up to New York and have a few finalized meetings also,” he added. “Might as well let the cat out of the bag.”

It’s sounding more and more like this is no longer just a “rumor.” Stay Tuned.

The S.O.B.’s show also featured a performance by Texas’ new young star Marcus Manchild. His set featured two popular Lone Star products, Slim Thug and Paul Wall, who performed their classic collab record “Still Tippin’.” Aside from Manchild sharing the stage with his “two big brothers,” he completely owned the stage. He performed as if the entire crowd was there to see him, which is something many new or aspiring artists don’t do. If you came to the show unfamiliar with Manchild, you left a fan.
