Excellent Hip-Hop news part 1. New music from Jean Grae, and it’s about damn time.  The former What What of Natural Resource (and Run Run Shaw, if you’re into beats) drops a new joint called “Kill Screen (aka Steve Wiebe).” “Dress mismatched like Confederate soldiers, told ya best to think fast this level is over, goin’ for the kill screen fist full of quarters…” spits Grae on the song, which is inspired by The King of Kong, a Donky Kong documentary.

She described why she chose to hop on this particular instrumental, which she hooked up herself, to MTV Hive.

Something eerie [and] sparse that allowed for a lot of room for wordplay; a lot of room to breathe on the track. I look at beats like a canvas: Sometimes you want a lush, full landscaped background, other times it deserves to be something more minimalistic. I wanted to paint on a minimal canvas.

Excellent Hip-Hop news part 2. “Kill Screen” is the lead single from Grae’s forthcoming Gotham Down album, which will be followed by her other forthcoming album, Cake Or Death. Got that? Listen to “Kill Screen” below.
