If you’re into that soulful, stick to your ribs Hip-Hop, you’re in luck. Dee-1’s new track “The Very Best” fulfills the needs of those looking for tunes reminiscent of a mother’s Sunday afternoon oldies playlist. Produced by The MVPs, the track features the once upon a time unlikely combination of Mannie Fresh and Yasiin Bey, the latter of which adds some of his patented harmonies to the song’s soulful wonder. Sorry folks no verses from the Brooklyn MC/thespian here, though.

“The Very Best” is likely a result of the recently captured studio sessions with the Black Dante and Mannie Fresh. Those familiar with the footage may remember Dee-1 playing the cut as Mos and the former Cash Money producer went to work. Looks like the New Orleans MC capitalized on the good vibes in the room. “The Very Best” will appear on Dee-1’s forthcoming project #TheFocusTape, set to release October 9.
