Jovan Belcher, linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs killed his girlfriend before taking his own life early this morning, TMZ reports.
The 25-year-old shot his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, several times at about 7 a.m. Saturday, according to police. Belcher's mother is believed to have witnessed the shooting. After taking the Perkins' life, Belcher drove to Arrowhead Stadium, where the team was scheduled to practice that day, and committed suicide. The NFL player was reportedly holding a pistol to his head while talking to Chief's head coach Romeo Crennel and General Manager Scott Pioli.
Belcher thanked the coach and manager for all that they had done for him before pulling the trigger, just as police arrived.
