In 2001, Chris Rock, J.B. Smoove and Lance Crouther starred in the cult classic film, Pootie Tang.
DJ Prince Paul of De La Soul served as the musical supervisor for the movie that was written by Louis CK. Now, Prince Paul has released a song that never made it onto the film’s soundtrack. The song is called “Tipi Ti on Mi Cappi Town,” and it features Missy Elliott, with additional vocals from Pootie Tang himself.

This was a song that we recorded for the Movie Pootie Tang in 2000. This is the ballad from the night club scene. Newkirk is on the keys Lance Crouther and Missy Elliott supplied the vocals . Initially [Don] Newkirk and I scored the whole movie .. and then well .. Hollywood took over 😉 . This was lots of fun to record and after I definitely had a big respect for Missy she’s genius . once again please share ! part of the Prince Paul Unreleased series .
