Facebook can get you fired. April Sims, a 911 operator in Dallas, was apparently unaware of the ramifications of social media when she ranted about Black people being “crazy,” and “animals.”

Based on her posts, Sims talking about her experience at work. “Black people are outrageous! They are more like animals,” she wrote. “They never know how to act, just loud. Always causing problems. I can count on 1 hand the black people I know who don’t have s— for brains!!!”

What else irritated her about Black people? The fact that they call 911 for stupid reasons.

“You want to call 911 cause you boyfriend put his hands on you and you want to press charges when you don’t even know his real name?! Sure lets make a police report for Dino, that is his street name.”

The Dallas Police Department fired Sims for violating their social media policy, prohibiting employees from posting things that can “adversely affect the morale, confidence, and public respect of the department.”

A source sent screenshots of her rant to a local news station.

Simms was hired in December during quick staffing efforts following the death of a woman killed while on the phone with 911. Deanna Cook’s life was taken as she screamed to the operator for help. Her killer, husband Delvecchio Patrick, was heard on the recording saying he was going to kill her. Due to a “communication error” the dispatcher was not able to locate Cook’s address until 9 minutes into the 11-minute call. What’s more, police arrived at her house and did no further investigation besides knocking on an unanswered door.

Cook’s body was found in a bathtub two days later, by her teenage daughter. Family members broke her door down after she didn’t show up for church.
