The loss of legendary Soul Train host Don Cornelius in February 2012 saddened fans of the popular dance program worldwide. However, the memory of the widely-syndicated program lives on with a bevy of live performances, breakout appearances and the famed “Soul Train Line.”

It’s tough to pick the best moments of the Soul Train Line, as that segment was the clear highlight for many. HipHopWired pored over some of the top moments of the Line, compiling a list of 10 of our favorites.

    Nice group of clips. My favorite of them all is #5 when dude whipped out ‘the Smurf’ at about 1:25. I hadn’t seen that dance in YEARS. I will study that and get it down for myself.
    The evolution of the Soul Train dance lines was sadly like how black music seems to be playing out over the years. More emphasis on sexiness and ‘look/image’ and less regard to just getting down. We need to start focusing on just getting down again.
