As fans continue to praise Janelle Monáe‘s new album, The Electric Lady, she returns with a remix for the Solange-assisted title track.
Monae and Knowles are now joined by Dungeon Family MCs Big Boi and Cee-Lo Green. Along with the additions to the cast, the song also received a sonic re-configuring. The funk heard on the original remains in tact, but a percussion change gives the cut a swing similar to that heard in Washington, D.C.’s Go-Go music.
As you can see, this is an actual remix and not just some track with tagged on verses. But that’s to be expected from Monae, who’s never been one to follow the trends of the industry.
Her latest effort, The Electric Lady, released September 10. It features 20 records, including a buttery smooth duet with Miguel titled “Primetime.” The “Electric Lady (Remix)” fan be found on the Target exclusive copy, but you can hear it free of charge below.
