Bas Talks Last Winter & “Team No Daughters” [VIDEO]
Dreamville artist Bas is mentioned in a lot more Rap conversations since the release of is Interscope debut Last Winter. Hip-Hop Wired recently spoke with the promising rapper from Queens about the project and why he’s afraid to have a daughter.
The New Yorker was very candid while discussing how media can affect the youth, especially young girls.
“We have a funny thing in our set. We call it ‘Team No Daughters,’ and it sounds terrible when you just hear it,” Bas said. “But it’s all based on our fear of ever having to raise a daughter in this society…. the way things are heading right now.”
“Kids now, it’s all they see on TV. It’s all they see on WorldStar [WorldStarHipHop],” Bas explained. “They don’t necessarily know any better, but the way their minds are being molded is horrifying.”
And that’s not to say that Bas is another rapper on a soapbox looking to preach to the masses. He’s far from that, but he is great at articulating his observations. That skill birthed a lot of the music on Last Winter, which is available on iTunes.
