Mac Miller Debuts 2 New Tracks To Celebrate WMWTSO 1-Year Anniversary [Listen]

June 18, 2013, Mac Miller’s Watching Movies with the Sound Off album was one of four dynamically different, but quality Hip-Hop releases. One year later, the accomplished MC and producer saw  fit to commemorate the LP’s one year anniversary by debuting two unreleased tracks.

The first was the original version of the intro, “Star Room.” Produced by Earl Sweatshirt, this tune is very different from the one that ushered in the cinematic WMWTSO. The instrumentation is sparse and Miller delivers his rhymes with less of a growl here.

The second record, “Melt,” features chum and frequent collaborator ScHoolboy Q, and some production from the legendary Pete Rock. This cut almost sounds like it could have fit perfectly on D’Angelo’s Voodoo, which can be primarily be credited to the funky bass line. If anything, the omission of this song shows growth in Miller’s ability to look at the bigger picture when creating a body of work, because it’s easily album worth in any other case.

mac Miller is tight an all, but TDE need to stop fuckin with him so strong. He is bringing them down. He is too generic (not all the time but most)and they are too talented ex. Ab-soul feat Q- Hunnid stax. The hook on the song is so trash it kinda ruins the whole song for me
