2 Florida Police Officers Fired For Being Ku Klux Klan Members [Photos]

The southern states have been busying spreading the hateful message of the Ku Klux Klan and a couple of police officers in Florida have just been outed as members.

An international FBI probe specifically named Deputy Police Chief David Borst and Cpl. George Hunnewell as active Klansmen. When Police Chief Terry Isaacs found out about the news, he fired Hunnewell and Borst resigned with more than 20 years of service.

Reports WFTV 9:

Police Chief Terry Isaacs said an FBI confidential source revealed the two officers from his department were members of the KKK.

Isaacs called the allegations “despicable and disgusting.” He said there was no proof or documentation the men were members, aside from information from the source.

Because it’s not criminal to be in the KKK, the FBI turned the investigation over to the FDLE to look into the standards and ethics policies to see what action should be taken.

FDLE officials also agreed it was not criminal and referred the case to the chief.

On Friday, Isaacs began preparing an internal investigation and put the men on administrative leave.

But when Borst was called into the chief’s office, he immediately resigned and denied everything.

Hunnewell has been demoted and faced counseling and disciplinary action in the past.

The FBI assured the chief that there were no other officers involved.

Surprisingly (or not), this isn’t the first time the Fruitland Park community has had a KKK police officer brought to the light. In 2009, an officer resigned after pictures of him dressed in KKK garb and posing with guns surfaced online.

Check out the gallery of some of the activities Borst and Hunnewell engaged in while they were supposed to be serving and protecting people of all colors and creeds.
