This may come as a shock, but there are athletes (and other humans) out there who haven’t had alcohol before. Golden State Warriors player Harrison Barnes used to be among the population of alcohol virgins, but those days are over.

Barnes had his first sip of alcohol after winning the NBA championship in Cleveland.

Reprots the New York Post:

Two of the NBA champion Golden State Warriors had never tasted alcohol before the team won the finals in Cleveland on Tuesday night.

But while forward Harrison Barnes, 23, sampled some bubbly after the win, series MVP Andre Iguodala, 31 — who also famously hates loud nightclubs — abstained.

The team was seen celebrating at Cleveland steakhouse Morton’s, and league MVP Stephen Curry was seen arriving with his 2-year-old daughter. (One reveler got carried away and reportedly tried to slip an unlit stogie into the tot’s mouth. She wisely declined.)

Back in San Francisco on Wednesday, the team continued to party at Infusion Lounge, where players including Draymond Green, David Lee and Festus Ezeli uncorked a 15-liter Nebuchadnezzar of Luc Belaire Champagne.

The bottle weighed 50 pounds, spies said, but Green hoisted it single-handedly to spray the crowd. A DJ played “CoCo” by rapper O.T. Genasis.

It became the “unofficial anthem” of the Warriors, but the players call it “Cocoa Krispies” to avoid the tune’s drug references.

Morton’s Steakhouse one night, and a 50-pound bottle of champagne the next? Sounds like a party.
