Havoc of Mobb Deep tells the Drink Champs podcast that Prince secretly contributed to a song he produced featuring Snoop Dogg.

According to Havoc, Prince walked into his session with a mutual acquaintance when he was working on a beat. Star struck, he asked the legend if the beat was missing anything. That’s when he says the iconic musician hopped on the keys and went to work.

He says:

“I was making the beat, and then I was like ‘Holy sh*t, Prince.’ Then, I was like ‘Is there anything I need to do to the beat?’ He was like ‘Hold on’ and then he got on the keyboard and just started…He was that cool.”

According to Havoc, Prince just left when he was done and never sweated the group about compensation. The song did see the light of day. It’s “Thou Shall Not Kill” featuring Snoop Dogg and Tray Dee. The track was previously unreleased but it did appear on the 2007 The Infamous Archives album containing songs that were left off of their album.

It’s not one of the finer moments in the Mobb Deep catalog, but now that we know this, it just became more special.
