Charles Hamilton had a meteoric rise in the Hip-Hop game, a steep fall off and eventually found redemption. A new documentary basically asks ‘What happened?’ to the enigmatic Harlem rapper.

Red Bull TV announced the new doc today (Nov. 30) called Faultines, which is part of its ongoing ‘Let It Play…’ series. The doc launches on Red Bull TV on Dec. 2 and was directed by Fred Scott.

The film trails Charles Hamilton for a year as he re-enters the industry, and also details his come up, and the personal struggle that essentially exiled him from the game.

That would include squandering a multimillion dollar record contract, dealing with depression (and a bipolar disorder diagnosis) and even becoming a meme thanks to an infamous freestyle that ended with him getting snuffed by his ex-girlfriend.

“It was so important for me to share my story right now,” says Hamilton via a press release. “I’m grateful to my family for intervening because I didn’t want help. I just wanted to create in my room in the dark. I have a newfound passion in advocating for artists, young people and other men of color that may be unsure of beginning the process toward wellness. I want to make an impact in this world, whether that’s through my music or my life’s story.”

Gotta respect a man being candid about his faults and willing to deal with his past.
