Come to find out MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes went to school with Immortal Technique and Lin-Manuel Miranda too. But no, he wasn’t bullied though.
Earlier this month we all got a couple chuckles out of Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda revealing that he was bullied by rapper Immortal Technique in high school.
“He was our school bully,” Miranda told WTF podcast host Marc Maron. “He terrorized kids, he threw them in the garbage. I got thrown in the garbage by him…He got a part senior year [in the school play] and I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m in a f*cking play with the dude that scares the sh*t out of all my friends.'”
Immortal Technique responded by insisting that it must have been a slow news day.
Now, MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes, who also went to the same high school is here to verify that Tech was definitely a bully back in the day and saw the infamous garbage can antics himself. He shared the story with VICELAND’s Desus and Mero. Desus also went to Hunter College High School with Manuel and Technique.
“Felipe was kind of a school bully back in the day,” he says, calling the rapper by his government name. “People do things when they are 17 that are not who they are…but yes, what Lin said, the specific thing that they would do on the yard is that they would make people sing “Bucktown”…in a trash can sometimes. I would say this never befell me.”
In other words, Hayes wasn’t getting bullied and made to stand in trash cans. But hold up though, cats were getting forced to rap “home of the original gun clappers” though?
