You ever wonder what happened to Mars Co-op, who kicked off the first verse on The Roots classic block party jam “Clones?” Well here’s an update. The Philadelphia MC returns with Sunwun and former Root’s member Malik B. on “48 Bars.” Mars, who also goes by King Midas, is on his African king ish in the visuals, rocking a dashiki on his back and women drenched in gold on his arm. That’s player ish.

Malik B. notably comes out of hibernation on the track. His last few appearances with The Roots include verses 2006’s Game Theory, where he spit on “Game Theory,” “In The Music,” and “Here I Come,” and an appearance on two Rising Down tracks. He left the Roots Crew in 1999 prior to the release of Phrenology due to drug problems, but his presence has been admittedly missed by devoted fans.
