Oscar Pistorius Prepping Private Memorial For Slain Girlfriend

Oscar Pistorius will pay tribute to the girlfriend he shot dead, by way of a private memorial. Pistorius is prepping  his own ceremony for Reeva Steenkamp, tonight.

Steenkamp was creamted and honored during a family ceremony last week, the same time that Pistorius was in a South African court awaiting a ruling on whether or not he’d be freed on bail.

“Oscar specifically requested the memorial service as he continues to grieve and remains in deep mourning for the loss of his partner Reeva,” his spokesperson said in a statement. “Since it is such a sensitive issue, Oscar has asked for a private service with people who share his loss, including his family members who knew and loved Reeva as one of their own.”

Pistorius has been visibly emotional during court hearings, often bursting into tears in plain view. His lawyer said that the ordeal has “traumatized” the Olympian.

Steenkamp’s father, Barry, urged Pistorius to reveal the entire story. “It’s only Oscar [and] Reeva that know the true story, and all I want is that he must just come out with the honest truth,” he told a South African news station.

Since the 26-year-old gunned down his 29-year-old girlfriend, allegedly believing she was a burglar, the case has been filled with twists. The lead investigator was replaced after his  own attempted murder charges were reinstated, and the track star’s brother, Carl, was recently announced to be facing a homicide charge, stemming from a 2008 accident in which he hit a woman with his car.
