O.J. Simpson’s historic murder trial is coming back to network TV, All Hip Hop reports. Fox is developing a show based on the former football player’s legal troubles.
Touted as a “tentpole event series,” the 10-12 episode program is tentatively titled, The Run of His Life: The People vs. O.J. Simpson, based on a book of the same name. “Everybody remembers where they were when O.J. Simpson, riding in a white Bronco, led the police on a low-speed chase all over Los Angeles,” the network revealed in their statement, crediting the chase with the “birth” of reality TV.
Additionally, Fox says that the show will “take viewers behind the scenes of ‘The Trial of The Century’, driven by the nonstop plot of a courtroom thriller and presenting the story of the trial as it has never been told.”
Like Fox, Simpson also attempted a new way to tell the story of him “allegedly” murdering his wife Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. In 2007, he released the book, If I Did It, giving a “hypothetical” account of how he would have murdered the mother of his children, and her friend. Fox even jumped on board attempting to put together, If I Did It, Here’s How It Happened, a two-hour exclusive interview with Simpson.
In October of 1995, Simpson was found not-guilty in both murders. The verdict divided Black and White communities, with the latter believing that he was guilty. The victims’ families filed wrongful death civil suits against the Bay Area native , winning their claim that he was somehow liable.
