Lorde’s “Royals” is the no. 1 song in the nation, so Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon decided to take a crack, no pun, at his own version of the song.
The Chef isn’t crooning but adds a couple of slang heavy verses to the moody original. “We get to dancing throwing elbows, chairs flying, hellbound/2000 L’s get lit for n**as sail around/Gangtas and watches, triplexes, log cabin villas killah, yeah next level Lexuses,” spits the “Ice Water” MC.
Another high profile rapper that dropped their own take on the 16-year-old Lorde’s hit is Rick Ross. Raekwon gets a pass because he’s rap royalty, but all you struggle rappers can chill and leave this tune alone now. Rae’s new album, F.I.L.A. (Fly International Luxurious Art), is due out later this year.
