TDE is an army, better yet a navy, but as they expand, their formula remains the same. Credit that in part to their all-star engineer, Mixed By Ali, who discussed his backstory, being a student of the game, and TDE with the good folks at Rap Radar.
“When I first get a project, I like to listen to it top to bottom first. I like to get a feel for what I’m about to touch,” Ali says. Often times, this happens in his car and the results have been phenomenal. Credited with the sonic marvels TDE’s released, including the crowned jewel that’s Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city, Ali also stepped away from the clique to mix longtime friend YG’s acclaimed debut, My Krazy Life.
This interview caters to true Hip-Hop nerds, but we suggest that everyone listen, because there’s some jewels in there about the West Coast collective and more. Peep the wisdom in the clip below.
