Former Ole Miss guard Marshall Henderson seriously stepped in the plate in a bizarre and possible backpedaling move when expressed his disgust for Sam’s affection with his partner, only to turn around and say he did solely to help out a gay friend pass his psychology class.
“Boycotting sportscenter til this michael sam nasty ass shit is off …. My brothers are 7 and 11 and saw that!!! #SICKENING,” he begain. A few Tweets later, his mentions were shambles with followers in disagreement and he prepared to do a 180°. “THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR INPUT AND RESPONSES!!! MY NEXT TWEET IS REALLY GONNA THROW EVERYONE A CURVEBALL,” Marshall continued with the caps lock button for added dramatic effect. “One of my best friends, WHO IS GAY, is about to graduate in psychology, asked me to say these things so he can have responses. The point of his study was to see how people react when others say things or act a certain way against another group of people. He chose gays because of how he relates to it and has to live it EVERYDAY of his life. He asked me because he knew I would get incredible Feedback.”
Of course he was on a one-man ship in the middle of the ocean because nobody was buying it. His former athletic director, Ross Bjork even took to his personal Twitter account to distance the school from Henderson’s comments. The 2014 NBA Draft hopeful doesn’t have the best track record himself, most notably being busted with cocaine and marijuana in July 2013.
Henderson could have helped his cause and pointed tagged this “gay friend” on one his social media accounts. Just saying.
