VH1 is quietly doing away with Sorority Sisters, after a myriad of backlash for what was criticized as a negative and inaccurate depiction of Black Greek organizations. The show will air its final three episodes in the still of the night, Friday (Jan. 16).

The network hasn’t yet officially announced the cancellation, but it’s pretty clear what’s going on here.  To give you and idea of the shade, none of the Sorority Sisters episodes will be replayed for the West Coast, and the finale doesn’t even air until  11:10 p.m.

Friday’s isn’t usually a huge night for the cable network, so bet that the ratings will be much smaller than what the show would get airing after Love & Hip Hop New York.

Sorority Sisters is executive produced by Mona Scott Young. The show’s first two episodes pulled in over million viewers in spite of backlash, advertisers pulling out, and a Change.org petition to “stop the spread of ignorance and stereotyping” of Black Greek organizations.

Last week’s episode was followed up by a town hall where the cast responded to the controversy. Alpha Kappa Alpha has suspended two cast members, April McRae and Joy Hammond, for their behavior in the show.
