Nas has confirmed that he will be dropping a new album sometime this year.

In an interview with Billboard, Nas spoke on a bevy of topics ranging from his creative role in Netflix’s Hip-Hop series The Get Down to his current business partnership with Mass Appeal. But, the highlight of the wide-ranging conversation was probably the smallest bit.

Nas confirmed that his new album will be dropping in 2017.

Per Billboard:

Nas, I know you made a record called “Nas Album Done” but I guess the album isn’t finished yet?

It’s not done till it hits the streets.

But the studio in this office is going to help create the vibe.

Oh yeah, that room is where we’re finishing everything.

Can fans expect this album before the year is over?

For sure.

Any titles in mind?

Not yet, not till release.

Will you drop tracks before the whole album comes out?

We might do a single but we might do something different.

Nas has been hinting at a new album being done since he said it on the remix to Schoolboy Q’s “Studio” back in 2014. Last summer he sent Hip-Hop into another frenzy when he recorded the track “Nas Album Done” for DJ Khaled’s album. But even then he never said when it was dropping, only that he was “plotting” on when. As you can see, 2016 ended without a Nas album coming out.

Hopefully, this “for sure” assurance he just gave is for real. In the mean time, you can enjoy a new Nas track featured on The Get Down titled “Angel Dust.” Here, he follows in Sean Price’s footsteps and reworks Gil Scott-Heron’s 1978 cautionary tale.
