Cuba Gooding, Sr., singer and father to Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding, Jr., was found dead in his car on Thursday.
TMZ reports that police found Gooding slumped over in his silver Jaguar, parked on Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills, CA. The fire department was called and arrived at the scene at 12:58 PM. They attempted CPR, but could not resuscitate him.
The cause of death has not yet been released but the Los Angeles County coroner’s office revealed that alcohol bottles and drug paraphernalia were found in the car. They suspect that Gooding died of natural causes or a drug overdose. Authorities are waiting for a toxicology report. Gooding would have turned 73 next Thursday, April 27.
Gooding was the lead singer of R&B soul group The Main Ingredient. They are widely known for their 70s hit “Everybody Plays The Fool.”
