When you think of 90’s Hip-Hop, Martin Lawrence is most definitely a point of discussion. So it should be no surprise that the actor and comedian will be honored at VH1’s forthcoming Hip Hop Honors: The 90’s Game Changers.

Billed as a 90’s style block party, the evening will celebrate the era of Hip-Hop’s influence on Pop culture, television, movies and its albums. The ceremony goes down Sunday, September 17 at Paramount Studios in Hollywood but will air on Monday, September 18 at 9PM ET/PT on VH1.

Last year’s Hip Hop Honors paid homage to females MC’s like Lil Kim, Queen Latifah and Missy Elliott.

Lawrence is just the first announced honoree with more to follow (get more info right here.). The comedian’s impact in the 90’s spanned television (his namesake show), movies (Bad Boys, Big Momma’s House) and stand up (he hosted Def Comedy Jam).

To quote Gang Starr, you gots to give the credit when the credit is due. With that said, let us look back at one of the funniest scenes from Martin, ever (RIP Tommy Ford).
