Nintendo fans here is some good news for you, the brand will be releasing the SNES-themed 3DS XL stateside this year.
Thanks to Twitter user @Wario64, we learn the SNES 3DS will not just be exclusive to European Nintendo fans. The latest version of the popular handheld system is currently available for pre-order for $199.99 on Amazon right now.
Those who place an order can expect to receive their units two weeks after the Europe release on November 27. To sweeten the deal, Nintendo will be throwing in a download code for everyone’s favorite racing game Super Mario Kart.
This won’t be the first time Nintendo dressed the 3DS up in a limited skin. They also released a Super Famicom inspired variant in Japan back in March last year. There was also a retro NES version of the 3DS XL released back in 2014. We can’t forget the Super Mario World lime green 3DS and for Metroid fans, there was a special 3DS for you as well.
The unit looks beautiful and like the system, it is modeled after will probably move swiftly off shelves. Nintendo has definitely seemed to tap a special place in gamers hearts with this retro movement. So don’t sleep like folks did on the SNES Classix pre-order, you better pre-order your SNES 3DS XL not now, BUT RIGHT NOW.
