This morning (Nov. 28), the 2018 Grammy nominees were announced and Black Twitter was all happy since so many Hip-Hop acts, like Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino, got blessed with numerous nominations. However, one artist with his eye on the jig is Q-Tip.
The Abstract is peeved consider that A Tribe Called Quest performed at the 2017 Grammy ceremony, yet the group’s latest, critically acclaimed We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service album was nowhere to be found on the list of nominees.
Tip took to Instagram to drag the Grammys for what he considers the exploitation of his group.
“[I’m] sick of y’all f*cking Grammy n*ggas man. You get us to get out there and f*cking perform last year and close the sh*t and y’all don’t get us no fucking nominations?” says Tip. “9th, what happened?”
Tip is referring to 9th Wonder, but he meant no disrespect (Rapsody’s Laila’s Wisdom album caught a nomination, though).
He added, “We don’t get sh*t?! For that album. For that album!”
And that’s just part one.

Tip went on to stress the importance of ATCQ’s album while pleading that y’all not fall for the “diverse” Grammy’s jig since being Black is what his group stood on. #facts

Let’s end this with a quote from the late, great Phife Dawg. “I’ll never let a statue tell me how nice I am,” spit the 5 Foot Assassin on “Award Tour.” A Tribe Called Quest are one of the nicest to ever do it, period. They deserve ALL the awards.
Just saying.
