DJ AM was found dead on Friday in his New York apartment. Although the cause of death hasn’t been revealed, drug paraphernalia was found in the home.

The acclaimed DJ survived a fatal plane crash nearly a year ago that took the lives of four people while he and drummer Travis Barker were the only survivors.

A statement released by his representative read:

“Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time.”

DJ AM had also recently wrapped up shooting of an 8-episode series about addiction for MTV called “Gone Too Far.”

DJ AM was a frequent collaborator with Barker and also scratched on records for Will Smith and Papa Roach and was a well sought after party DJ.
